1.30 Workshop: Play Therapy (Elly Levis)

Elly is a passionate early childhood professional with 28 years experience in teaching and as a drama specialist. Trained in Play Therapy, Elly will inspire and engage her audience as she discusses Play Therapy and its benefits. Emotional wellbeing is the aim, where children are happy from within.

2.30 Workshop: Connecting with Children (Kay White, MISP Trainer)

Learn how MISP can be used in family groups to create healthy, respectful communications between family members. This fun, interactive workshop will demonstrate how the program can be implemented in an informal setting to suit the people involved. For those MISP Instructors looking for an alternative to getting the program into schools, this may add another dimension to what you are able to offer. For guests, you will learn about some simple ways of introducing the notion of positive, respectful touch to your family life - and maybe find a whole new way of connecting with your children!

3.10 Workshop: MISP and Children with Special Needs (Anne Elston, MISP Trainer)

Anne Elston is a teacher – currently living and working in Tasmania - with over 30 years experience of working with students who have special/additional needs. Anne is also a Massage in Schools Instructor and a Senior Trainer. Anne’s workshop will give participants an opportunity to learn more about how massage can help students who are on the autism spectrum to cope with school. There is much recent research into the profound effect of massage on young people who have autism, and the workshop will investigate these studies. This information will be linked to Anne’s direct experience, and her work with a range of students who are on the autism spectrum. Learn more about the beneficial effect of massage on all children’s brains, and the particular effect on the brains of children on the autism spectrum. The workshop will involve listening, some group activities, with time for questions and discussion.
